As you may already be aware, the Center for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) is readying for a fraud prevention initiative that removes Social Security numbers from Medicare Cards to combat identity theft, and safeguard taxpayer dollars. CMS started issuing the new cards in April 2018. All Companion applications now contain an image of the new Medicare card, and under each applicant, there are now two fields for Medicare Health Insurance Card Number (this will allow for either or both numbers during the transition period). All applications have been updated and are available on the Agent Portal. Please use the new applications as previous versions will no longer be accepted as of June 1, 2018.
