Companion Life Discontinuing Agent Distribution in Missouri

Companion Life Insurance Company has shifted its strategic focus and will discontinue agent distribution of its Medicare Supplement product in Missouri. This change in distribution is effective immediately.

While this change does not have any impact on existing business, it does impact agents currently appointed to sell the Companion Life Medicare Supplement in Missouri. Companion Life will continue to service all existing policies by providing the high level of service that policyholders and agents currently receive.

As this change is implemented, there are some key dates.

Commissions

• Commission advancing for Missouri business is discontinued as of 10/31/2019. All business issued after this date will be paid on an as earned basis.
• Commissions will continue to pay as earned for all previously issued business.
• Commissions will still be available online.

Medicare Supplement Applications

• We will continue to process any applications that are currently in-house.
• All Missouri business needs to be signed, dated, and received no later than 10/31/2019 with an effective date no later than 12/01/2019.  Any new applications, including plan changes, received on or after 11/01/2019 will be returned. All pended business  submitted prior to 10/31/2019 has 15 days to be resolved and issued or the business will be declined.

Missouri policyholders will continue to be allowed to reinstate a lapsed policy as per policy provisions, provided payment bringing the policy current is made within 60 days from the last paid-to-date. After 60 days, coverage will not be available.
